What the DEA 7-OH ruling means for your shelf
In July 2026, the DEA moved to temporarily place enhanced or concentrated 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) — specifically above a 0.050% dry-weight threshold (or >1mg in extracts, edibles, or pills) — into Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. The same action covers the related synthetics mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, and MGM-16.
This action targets enhanced, concentrated, or semi-synthetic 7-OH products. It does not ban natural kratom leaf or products that contain only trace, naturally-occurring 7-OH.
